Path description: From the Schwarzsee walk along path # 12 (Bonn high altitude path), then on a marked path which branches off, climbing in southerly direction across a stony meadow and finally across rocks up to the Riepenspitze (2,774 metres); from the lake: 289 metres in altitude; walking time 1 hour;

Descent: From the summit, follow marking # 47 to the sharp NW ridge, then on the steep western side via the Alpine meadow down to the Stumpfalm (1,950 metres, pub), then follow marking # 47 via the forest path, along sweeping serpentines through beautiful forests, down to the Talschluss Hut; from there to St. Magdalena; from Riepenspitze: 2 ½ hrs.

Hints and tips: Highest summit in the Gsies East ridge; together with its neighbouring peaks, it forms a rugged and rocky mountain massif east of St. Magdalena. The trapeze-shaped Riepenspitze is situated between the pyramid-shaped Kaserspitze (2,718 metres) and the Heimwaldspitze massive (2,775 metres). Excellent look-out.
